Norwich Nature Area Trail Clean-Up

July 1, 2010

Earlier this week a group of Agriculture/Natural Resources/ Horticulture teachers from several New England States came together in the Upper Valley at Norwich Inn to attend a four day conference  with the theme, “Community Partners and Service”.

Their conference leader, Gail Sanders of Norwich, contacted UVTA expressing the groups interest in providing some community service on trails – similar community service efforts the teachers  expect of their students during the school year.  With the help of the Norwich Trails Committee, the Norwich Nature Area was chosen for a Wednesday morning work session.

Norwich Nature Area Trails have been cleared of sticks, blow-downs, leaners, and much of the spring growth has been cleared overhead and along the sides of the trails. Thanks to George Clark for co-leading this helpful group effort with UVTA’s Trail Programs Director, John Taylor. It was so great to see 30 hours of trail maintenance completed in just 2 hours! Thanks to all for an enjoyable and productive morning on Norwich trails.
